Fishing on Nordseter
In Lillehammerfjellet you will find fine fishing lakes. At Nevelvann, Raudtjern, Mellsjøen and Reinsvann you fish the mountain trout, Abbor and Fjellsig.
Nevelvann
At Nevelvann you can fish trout. It is nice and easy to get down to nice fishing spots around the whole water, and it is also nice and swim here. There is a nice bathing jetty at Nevelvann! Here you can also rent canoes, which makes it extra exciting to get the fish out of the water!
Mellsjøen
Mellsjøen is perhaps the most child-friendly water on Nordseter, and the water that has the most fish. At the same time it is a nice bathing water. Here you can fish both perch and trout. The finest fishing spot is where the river runs out, and here the opportunity is also greatest for getting fish. The fish is often at the river intake by the water for food - as the river transports various goodies the fish likes and lives on.
Reinsvann
The biggest lake and easy to get to by car, and also nice for both swimming and fishing. Here you can fish perch and trout.
Perch
The perch weighs about 50-150 grams. Some specimens can be considerably larger, lengths up to 35 cm and weight up to 1 kg are not uncommon. Larger perch than 1 kg is rare, but occurs. The perch does not have teeth, just a sharp palate. The perch eat only animal food, and the diet changes as the perch grows. The first year, until it is about 5 cm long, eats the most zooplankton. Then it starts to eat different bottom animals, and from about 15 cm it goes to eat small fish, species herbs included. The perch likes best where there are aquatic plants or sunken trees where it can find hiding places. Toddlers prefer to go to shoals when they hunt for food, while larger fish more often live lonely or go with just a few other individuals of the same size in search of food. The perch is most active during the day. Use small hooks, spinners and lures to get perch on the hook! Duck and field are also nice.
Trout
Trout or brown trout, also called aure and brown clover, is a salmon fish that is very popular with anglers and as food fish. The trout is often caught with fly, lures or yarn. The trout, which has characteristic dots along the sides, can be more than 30 kg heavy. It is a predatory fish that also eats its own. In Norway, the dog breed, a local strain of fjord trout found in Mjøsa and Gudbrandsdalslågen, is known for its enormous size. Young and small fish eat crustaceans, insect larvae, molluscs and other small fish. Often, the larger individuals go over to the fish diet and get a faster growth rate. Trout spawn preferably in running water. The trout is the easiest to get on the hook by using the float and field, swallowing or spinning. Use small hooks!
